A Guide To Boyfriend Blush

A Guide To Boyfriend Blush

TikTok’s latest beauty obsession, ‘boyfriend blush’, may sound new, but according to Mallory Rosses, the makeup artist who recently promoted the technique, it’s a returning cyclical trend that offers a fresh take on classic blush application.

Using a young Prince William and Prince Harry as references, Rosses describes boyfriend blush as a natural, flushed look—a gorgeous, youthful glow that mimics the effect of working out or walking in the cold. The technique flatters everyone, and the good news is, you don’t need a boyfriend to achieve it.

Designed to deliver a youthful, healthy appearance, boyfriend blush focuses on placement and shade rather than precision. To achieve the look, start by placing blush on the apples of your cheeks and blending down towards the jawline. Then, blend from the apples up to the temples, forming a triangle-shaped flush.

Colour selection is also important, as boyfriend blush aims to replicate the natural flush of your cheeks, whether that’s a warm red or bright pink.

The trend allows more flexibility with blush formulas, as you can choose from powder, stick, cream, or liquid and use any preferred application tool. The key is to select a blendable blush that provides a sheer wash of colour. We’ve rounded up our favourites below…
