Aveda Renews Its Focus on Skincare With Advanced Botanical Kinetics

Aveda is refocusing on high-performance skincare with Advanced Botanical Kinetics, a tightly edited, five-piece collection aimed at supporting skin vitality. The range works to energise the skin, restore hydration, and soften the visible effects of collagen loss — an approach that feels in step with a broader shift in skincare towards long-term structural support, rather than instant surface correction.

The collection is powered by Phytotech Vegan Collagen, an ingredient developed using vertically farmed plants grown in Tarragona Province, Spain. Through advanced phytotechnology, plant leaves are guided to generate fragments bioidentical to Type 1 collagen found in skin. Once extracted, they are used in Aveda’s leave-on formulas to help plump skin with hydration, while remaining firmly within the brand’s vegan and sustainability framework.

The range also introduces Aveda’s Vegan Peptide Complex, created to help soften the look of fine lines while supporting skin’s firmness and natural radiance. Alongside it is Kinetic Energy Infusion — a blend designed to energise the skin using a mix of ferment, niacinamide to support oxygen uptake, and caffeine to help maintain moisture. The result feels less cosmetic and more physiological, with radiance treated as a function of healthy, energised skin rather than surface glow.

“When we embarked on this project, we knew we weren’t here to create just another natural, vegan skincare collection — that was never going to be the story,” explained Janet Pardo, Senior VP of Product Development at The Estée Lauder Companies. “We returned to Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher’s visionary concept of exploring the physics of vital kinetic energy in skin, and then layered it with modern science to build formulas powered by cutting-edge technologies like recombinant vegan collagen and potent peptides… It’s the embodiment of Aveda’s mission fused with real performance, proving you don’t have to sacrifice vegan and natural for potency and results.”

The full line includes the Micro-Purifying Cleansing Mousse, Revitalizing Essence Lotion, Vitality Serum, Plumping Milky Lotion, and Plumping Crème, allowing consumers to tailor hydration levels while maintaining a consistent active ingredient profile across each skincare step.

Formulas are at least 96 percent naturally derived, fully vegan, and Leaping Bunny Approved. They are also dermatologist tested, non-acnegenic, free of silicones and synthetic colourants, and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive.

Advanced Botanical Kinetics is now available in the US, both in stores and online at aveda.com. The collection launches in the UK on 6 January.
