Calcot & Spa to Open Grain Store

Calcot & Spa, the Calcot Collection’s flagship property, is set to unveil a new wellness club, The Grain Store.

Launching in February 2024, The Grain Store is a purpose-built membership club that aims to enrich the existing wellness and fitness facilities at Calcot & Spa, which include an outdoor fireside hot tub, sauna and steam room, and 16-metre indoor pool.

The Grain Store is designed to connect the mind, body, and soul, and offer a place for both members and hotel guests to work, rest, and play.

“This is a £5m investment we’ve been planning for some years,” said Richard Ball, CEO of the Calcot Collection. “The spa at Calcot has had a membership wait list since it first opened nearly 20 years ago. The Grain Store allows us to extend this membership group at a time when wellbeing and fitness are an increasingly important part of everyday life.”

Nestled within Calcot’s grounds, the new 280 square metre wellness space will feature a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor gym, spin shed, holistic studio, exercise studio, café and terrace, and bookable private meeting space.

The gym will offer picturesque views of the countryside and will provide the latest equipment from Technogym and Exigo, including interactive upright bikes, treadmills, cross trainers, full and half olympic squat racks, and an Exigo Rig. Outside, guests and members can use the tennis court, hire bikes, follow a nature trail, play disc golf, or work out in the 6-piece Kompan outdoor gym. There will also be several fitness classes available in spacious, air-conditioned studios, including yoga, pilates, spin, and HIIT, as well as individual training sessions with the Grain Store’s PTs.

The Grain Store will also be home to the UK’s first Proverb Assisted Stretch Pod, an area where personal trainers will perform assisted stretching, helping clients to use their body weight and gravity for optimal results. As Kirstie Sherriff, Co-founder of Proverb, explains, “All Proverb’s treatments are centred around assisted stretches, as we know it improves manoeuvrability, flexibility, and gives a deeper result.”

Membership to The Grain Store will cost £200 per month, with a joining fee of £300. The spa will not be included as part of the membership.
