CeraVe Is The UK’s Most Searched Skincare Brand

CeraVe UK products

A recent study by Fresha, a beauty and wellness marketplace, has revealed CeraVe as the UK’s most searched skincare brand, averaging 136,992 monthly searches.

This study utilised Google Keyword Planner to analyse average monthly searches across over 50 renowned skincare brands. The data was cross-referenced alongside a series of keywords such as “cream” and “serum” to measure which brands are most searched by the British public.

Established in 2005 and co-developed with dermatologists, CeraVe strives to support and enhance the skin barrier using dermatologically approved ingredients. The brand is celebrated for its comprehensive product line designed to treat various skin conditions including dry skin, eczema, and acne. The newest offering to its UK range is the Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum—the first CeraVe vitamin C product available in the UK. This lightweight serum combats early signs of ageing, enhances brightness across all skin types, and reinforces the skin barrier.

CeraVe’s most popular search term was ‘CeraVe cleanser’, which garnered over 43,633 searches, closely followed by ‘CeraVe moisturising cream’ with 39,217 average monthly searches.

British beauty brand Byoma secured second place with 60,151 average monthly searches. Known for its affordability, BYOMA concentrates on bolstering the skin barrier by focusing on its repair, restoration, and protection.

The term “Byoma skincare” ranks as the third most searched skincare brand in the UK, drawing 36,800 average searches, while “Byoma moisturiser” places tenth with 9,125 average monthly searches.

Drunk Elephant ranks third with 37,354 searches per month. The brand’s moisturiser leads its searches, with “Drunk Elephant moisturiser” receiving 14,450 average searches, making it the fifth most popular keyword nationwide.

Originating from Houston, Texas in 2013, Drunk Elephant is celebrated for its biocompatible skincare that incorporates active ingredients for optimal skin health. Notably, the brand avoids using what it calls the “Suspicious 6” in its products, which includes essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, and SLS.

Further down the list, Aveeno takes the fourth spot with 32,963 average monthly searches, followed by Cetaphil, La Roche-Posay, The Ordinary, L’Oreal, Estée Lauder, and Olay, which complete the top ten.

A spokesperson for Fresha noted, “In recent years, thanks to social media influence and increased awareness of skin health, skincare has evolved from a niche interest to a mainstream obsession, transcending age, gender, and cultural boundaries.” They added, “This data reveals how much of a trend this has become in the UK, with historical brands such as Aveeno, Cetaphil and Estée Laude, as well as newer brands like Byoma and The Ordinary appearing in the top 10.”
