Damastíque Launches With Sun-First Skincare

New skincare brand Damastíque has launched with a mission to redefine suncare for women whose skin is most affected by hormonal shifts and pigmentation.

The clean beauty brand was founded by Aissa Duffy, who spent six years developing its inaugural product based on the principle that suncare should be safe for every skin type. Damastíque brings together whole-body wellness, biotechnology, and ancestral plants, and combines sun-resilient botanicals sourced from small, women-led farms across Latin America with modern science. The result is a holistic approach that honours ancestral tradition, ensures ethical production with reinvestment into local communities, and addresses contemporary skin concerns.

“Damastíque was born out of my own experience with melasma. I wanted to enjoy the sun without guilt and move past the insecurity of dark spots,” says Duffy. “As a young girl in South Texas near Mexico, I saw the same marks on my abuela, tias, and mother etched into their skin after years working under the sun as migrant workers. Years later, after battling melasma triggered by hormonal changes and sun exposure, I found the beauty industry is full of unknowns, quick fixes, and ingredients that can do more harm than good. We promise to be transparent about our process and formulas — from sourcing and ingredients to potential effects. Women should not have to settle for unsafe skincare products or choose between protecting their skin or protecting their health.”

The brand launches with the SPF Active Serum ($65), a lightweight mineral sunscreen-treatment hybrid that pairs 20% zinc oxide with Damastíque’s proprietary Antioxid Melanocyte Calm complex, delivering broad-spectrum SPF 36 UVA/UVB protection while supporting pigmentation-prone, sensitive, and hormonally shifting skin. The formula also features Mexican arnica extract to calm irritation and promote an even tone, antioxidant-rich açaí to brighten and defend against environmental stressors, and passionfruit oils and aloe vera to hydrate, soothe, and strengthen the skin barrier. Dermatologist-tested, it is free from hydroquinone, oxybenzone, parabens, and fragrance.
