Diptyque Has Reinvented Its Iconic Candle — And It’s Finally Refillable

Diptyque Candle Vessel 2026

Minimalist bedside tables are about to be elevated. Diptyque, the Parisian powerhouse that arguably launched our collective obsession with luxury home fragrance, has announced a major 2026 overhaul of its classic candle. And, for the first time in the Maison’s history, it is introducing dedicated refills designed to extend the life of the iconic glass vessel.

After a development process that lasted over three years, ten of the brand’s most emblematic fragrances will finally be available as refills thanks to PaperFoam, a bio-sourced and recyclable material containing cellulose fibres similar to those used in paper. It isn’t just a win for your home aesthetic; the brand notes that from the very first refill, simply keeping the vessel reduces the candle’s carbon footprint by around 22%. To further the eco-conscious shift, the vessels have a new design that reduces the weight of the glass by 10%.

While the brand’s signature dancing letters aren’t going anywhere, the vessel has been given a subtle upgrade by Franco-Swiss designer Julie Richoz, marking the first redesign of the iconic candle since its debut in 1963. Richoz has subtly adjusted the contours, adding an oval-shaped ridge of glass that mirrors the shape of the famous label. The label itself has been tweaked too; while it retains the monochrome look created by co-founder Desmond Knox-Leet, the letters now have a more assertive, tactile presence.

The brand is also expanding its fragrance library with five new additions for 2026, introducing new primary materials to its herbarium of scents. Developed by perfumers Alexandra Carlin and Olivia Giacobetti, the new scents include Café, a faithful evocation of freshly ground beans; Ortie, which captures the watery freshness of nettles; and Sésame Noir, an addictive blend of roasted notes and wood. There is also sharp, fruity Rhubarbe and a complex Shiso leaf scent, the latter of which will be exclusive to Diptyque boutiques.

The redesigned vessels and five new fragrances launch on 16 April at Diptyque boutiques and via diptyqueparis.com, with refill inserts for ten classic scents following in autumn 2026.
