Moroccanoil Expands Into Skincare

Moroccanoil Lip Balm Model

Moroccanoil is entering skincare with the launch of its first lip product, Lip Balm.

The brand, which launched in 2008, built its reputation on a single hair product: the original Moroccanoil Treatment. The now cult-favourite helped to popularise argan oil in professional haircare and, later, the wider beauty industry — laying the foundation for a portfolio that has since expanded into hair, body, and fragrance.

The new Lip Balm ($22) signals a considered, but not so surprising, expansion for the brand — a move that sees its signature ingredient step into a beauty category where nourishment and texture rule.

“The expansion into the lip care category with our new Moroccanoil Lip Balm offers our customers a product that not only feels beautiful but truly transforms the health of their lips,” said Carmen Tal, co-founder of Moroccanoil. “Since the beginning, Moroccanoil has been committed to creating luxurious, argan oil-infused products that deliver both performance and indulgence. This product fits in perfectly with our lineup of high-performing, easy-to-use products.”

Moroccanoil Lip Balms

Moroccanoil positions it as a treatment-first formula. It combines argan oil and argan butter, both rich in tocopherols (vitamin E), essential fatty acids, and antioxidants. Peptides are included to support smoothness and firmness, alongside hyaluronic acid to boost hydration and minimise the look of dryness-related lines. 94% of users reported instantly smoother, hydrated lips after one application, with 91% agreeing the formula softens the lips without leaving any sticky residue behind.

It comes in three sheer shades inspired by the Med, including Moroccan Mint Tea, a transparent sheen; Berry Pomegranate, a soft berry; and Vanilla Date, a muted pinky-nude.

The Lip Balm is now available at Sephora, Ulta Beauty, and moroccanoil.com. There is currently no word on a UK launch.
