New Bodycare Brand Hotel, Mike Launches

Hotel, Mike is the newest name to enter bodycare, and sustainability and biotechnology are shaping the brand from the get-go.

Instead of positioning nature as something to be endlessly extracted, Hotel, Mike takes a more controlled, lab-led route. The brand uses bioengineered ingredients grown from living cells, alongside fermented and repurposed materials, borrowing from the playbook of high-performance facial skincare and applying it to everyday body products. The upside, at least on paper, is consistency and efficacy without putting additional strain on natural resources.

Biotechnology underpins much of the range, from algae and moss cell cultures to plant-derived actives developed in carefully managed environments. These ingredients are designed to mirror — or improve upon — naturally occurring actives, while reducing the need for wild harvesting. Fermentation is used to boost performance, and upcycling gives new purpose to by-products from gin distilleries, hemp production, grape processing, olive oil manufacture, and oat milling.

Hotel, Mike debuts with four products, housed in colourful recyclable aluminium bottles, and priced between £26 and £43.

The Hand + Body Wash is designed as a daily staple — gentle and unfussy. It uses biotech-derived vegetable taurine from red algae to help support hydration, fermented rice water to soften and comfort the skin, and an upcycled barley grain ferment to help maintain skin balance.

Lightweight and fast-absorbing, the Hand + Body Lotion is built around a biotech moss extract developed using cell culture technology, which helps the skin retain moisture. Algae-derived actives support hydration, plant-based squalane reinforces the skin barrier, and the same upcycled barley ferment provides antioxidant support.

For those who like their bodycare to work a bit harder, the Bath + Body Oil is the perfect multitasker. Designed to be used in the bath or shower, on damp skin, or on dry patches, its formula blends biotech-produced microalgae oil to help improve softness and elasticity, fermented green tea seed oil for antioxidant protection, and upcycled hemp seed oil to nourish and reduce moisture loss.

Rounding out the range are the Bath + Body Salts. They are infused with biotech macroalgae to support skin comfort, an upcycled oat lipid complex to help soften and replenish the skin barrier, and a fermented mineral blend to leave skin feeling smooth rather than stripped.
