Phlas: The New At-Home Cold Plasma Device

Phlas Cold Plasma Device

At-home beauty tech is booming, and while LED therapy has led the charge, a new device is set to disrupt the category. Phlas is an advanced tool that brings cold plasma technology into everyday skincare routines, delivering professional-grade results without chemicals or invasive treatments. It’s designed to visibly reduce blemishes, smooth texture, and restore clarity, with each application taking just 30 seconds.

Phlas is the debut launch from Hyped About Science, a German skin-tech company focused on creating science-backed skincare solutions. Developed in Munich by a team of biophysicists, biomedical engineers, and skincare experts, the device uses terraplasma’s patented Surface Micro Discharge (SMD) cold plasma technology, a clinically proven approach already used in medical and aesthetic settings. Unlike conventional plasma devices that send electric currents through the skin, Phlas generates plasma molecules in the air, delivering them gently to the skin’s surface via a disposable spacer.

“The benefits of cold plasma have been well-known and demonstrated in the scientific community for many years,” said the founders of Phlas. “Seeing the benefits of cold plasma in the lab is one thing, but seeing its potential to improve people’s lives is what truly motivates us. We’re working to shape the future of wellness by making cutting-edge science more affordable, sustainable, and impactful.”

Cold plasma, also referred to as non-thermal plasma, is a partially ionised gas that produces reactive species at room temperature, offering regenerative, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects without damaging the skin. Traditionally used in wound healing and water treatment, the technology is now being applied to skincare with promising results.

Designed for home use, Phlas is a lightweight, cordless, handheld device suitable for all skin types, particularly blemish-prone or acne-prone. It works to reduce visible signs of irritation, support skin regeneration, and refine texture by minimising the appearance of pores.

Phlas is now available on Kickstarter from £208 ($279), giving early adopters the chance to try the device ahead of its wider release.
