World’s First AI-Powered Fragrance House Launches

Generation Osmo Fragrance House

Osmo, a biotechnology company leading scent innovation, has announced the launch of Generation, an AI fragrance house harnessing the power of olfactory intelligence (OI).

Built by a team of experts in machine learning, sensory neuroscience, data science, perfumery, and analytical chemistry, Generation enables brands to develop cleaner, more sustainable fragrances that maximise creativity.

“Fragrance is deeply personal, but until now, creating it has been slow, uncertain, and often out of reach,” said Alex Wiltschko, founder and CEO of Osmo. “We developed olfactory intelligence to give brands more intuitive, data-driven, and creative ways to design fragrances. This isn’t just about making the process faster, but also smarter and more expressive to help brands create extraordinary products that resonate with consumers, comply with shifting regulations, and stand out in a crowded market.”

Co-founded by Wiltschko in 2022, Osmo launched in January 2023 following a $60 million Series A funding round led by Lux Capital and Google Ventures. The company’s mission is to digitise the human sense of smell through a multidisciplinary approach.

Generation debuted with three exclusive fragrance ingredients — Glossine, Fractaline, and Quasarine — all crafted using OI technology. These innovative ingredients are already being utilised by some of the world’s leading beauty and personal care brands to deliver olfactive experiences previously deemed unattainable.

In addition to introducing new ingredients, Generation aims to streamline the fragrance development process with four key innovations:

  • AI-powered formulation tools that transform inspirations from text or images into precise fragrance formulas.
  • Ingredients prioritising sustainability and safety, aligning with modern consumer demands.
  • Real-world predictive market intelligence to help brands create fragrances that resonate with consumers.
