Dove’s Beauty Bar Is Now a Perfume
After years of fans asking, Dove has bottled the scent of its Original Beauty Bar as its first fine fragrance. Dove Original Fragrance was developed with fragrance expert Ann Gottlieb, and the glass bottle mirrors the soap’s curved shape, finished with a gold dove on top. It’s a one-time, limited-quantity drop, so don’t hang about. Waitlist sign-up opens today at dovefragrance.com, with sales starting on 27 October. It’s US-only, so UK fans will have to stick with the soap for their scent fix.
Stripes Beauty Unveils Gummy for Midlife Intimacy
Naomi Watts believes pleasure deserves a place in midlife wellness, and her brand Stripes Beauty is putting that into practice. Its new Rite of Passion gummies are designed to support arousal, blood flow, and mood, according to the brand, and were developed with female sexual health experts Dr Cindy Meston and Dr Somi Javaid. The formula includes L-arginine and L-citrulline, which Stripes says help with blood flow, alongside saffron and chasteberry for mood, plus tribulus and ginkgo biloba. They’re vegan, peach-flavoured, free from added sugar, and available now at stripesbeauty.com.
Kate Hudson Invests in HealthyCell
Kate Hudson liked HealthyCell’s supplements so much, she bought into the company. She’s joined as an investor and brand partner, and will also have a hand in its creative direction. HealthyCell swaps pills and powders for gels you take straight from the sachet, made with what it calls MicroGel technology, and the brand says clinical testing shows they’re absorbed up to 165% better than standard tablets. There’s something for most health goals, from sleep and focus to joints and immunity. Hudson, for her part, says people are fed up with wellness trends that don’t work. The brand is available in the US at amazon.com.
Merit Drops New Wave
If amber fragrances usually feel too heavy for you, Merit’s latest extrait de parfum might change your mind. It’s called New Wave, and it breaks a few of perfumery’s usual rules — there’s no citrus opening, no powdery florals, and no aldehydes. Instead, master perfumer Dominique Ropion and perfumer Meabh McCurtin took the bones of Ambre 83, a classic amber base, and gave them a modern makeover. Read about it here.
The Rootist Moves Into Styling
The Rootist made its name with fermented scalp care, and now it’s turning its attention to styling. The brand’s first product in the category, the Densify Dream Styling Cream, is designed to make hair look fuller and thicker, and it comes with built-in heat protection and frizz control for curls, waves, and natural texture. Use it on damp hair before air-drying or blow-drying, or smooth a little over dry lengths to tame flyaways. There are no heavy silicones here. Instead, fermented polypeptides give a light, flexible hold, while the brand’s patent-pending Rootbiomic Ferment is there, it says, to keep your scalp balanced. It’s available in the US now at rootist.com and amazon.com.
Haeze Brings Layerable Scents to Target
Forget saving up for one luxury perfume. Haeze, a new Target-exclusive brand launching on 1 November, is all about collecting several affordable scents and layering them to suit your mood. It comes from Josh Williams and Eric Prum, the duo behind kitchenware label W&P and pet brand Wild One, and marks their first move into beauty. Developed with Givaudan, the five fragrances each cover a different family, from the beachy gourmand SPF 1987 to the fresh, rain-inspired Down Pour. The standout might be & Only This, an ambroxan-based skin scent with clove bud and iris. Read the full story here.
