Charlotte Tilbury Debuts First Fragrance Collection
Charlotte Tilbury has debuted her new Fragrance Collection of Emotions, an eclectic edit of emotion-boosting scents powered by neuroscience.
Designed to alter and enhance your mood, the Fragrance Collection of Emotions was created in collaboration with International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) and world-renowned perfumers.
In creating the collection, Charlotte Tilbury utilised decades of scientific research accomplished by IFF. For over 40 years, the scent science specialists at IFF have been carrying out research and collecting data to uncover the link between scent and emotions. The team has harnessed, processed, and analysed data from tens of thousands of people across the world, scientifically measuring the way thousands of fragrance notes impacted different people, understanding how they shape our conscious and unconscious emotions. They uncovered five billion data points which were input into the IFF SCENTCUBE™, an algorithm that identifies emotions targetable through specific scent combinations or fragrance accords.
“We measure the emotional power of ingredients by understanding the specific effect they have on us and we identify which emotions they enhance” explained Dr Céline Manetta, senior consumer science manager at IFF. “We then use Artificial Intelligence with an IFF proprietary tool called the IFF SCENTCUBE™ that analyses all this data and gives perfumers innovative ingredient combinations to enhance specific emotions. It creates a specific palette of ingredients so they can compose with it.”
To compose the fragrances, Charlotte Tilbury appointed three of the world’s top master perfumers— Anne Flipo, the nose behind YSL’s Libre, Lancôme’s La Vie Est Belle, and Givenchy’s Irresistible Givenchy; Dominique Ropion, the man responsible for Mugler’s Alien, Cacharel’s Amor Amor, and Calvin Klein’s Euphoria; and Juliette Karagueuzoglou, the perfumer who crafted Salvatore Ferragamo’s Signorina, Penhaligon’s Savoy Steam, and most recently Chloé’s Nomade Nuit d’Egypte Chloé.
The new fragrance collection is made up of six fragrances, each powered by emotion-boosting notes and accords to enhance the six specific feelings. ‘Love Frequency’, a woody floral blend that conjures feelings of love, ‘Calm Bliss’, an aquatic floral that delivers serenity, ‘More Sex’, a musk leather that arouses seduction, ‘Cosmic Power’ a spicy amber that commands empowerment, ‘Magic Energy’, a citrusy wood that ignites energy, and ‘Joyphoria’, a warm floral that evokes happiness.
Fragrances are vegan and formulated with naturally derived fragrance oils. They also promise a scent trail that will last up to 18 hours. Each fragrance costs £130 ($150) for 100ml, £20 ($25) for a 10ml travel spray, and £25 ($30) for a discovery set that contains a 1.5ml vial of each fragrance.
The Fragrance Collection of Emotions will launch exclusively on the Charlotte Tilbury app on 30th April. It will then launch across all Charlotte Tilbury stores, including charlottetilbury.com, on 2nd May.
