Interview | Dr Aamna Adel of Rhute
As a consultant dermatologist specialising in hair loss in both adults and children, Dr Aamna Adel has built a career spanning clinical expertise, research, and education. Her path there was equally impressive. After earning her MBBS with distinction from St Bartholomew’s and the London School of Medicine, she completed her specialist training at Oxford University Hospitals. She is currently a member of the Royal College of Physicians and the British Association of Dermatologists, and serves as communications lead for the British Hair and Nail Society.
However, Dr Adel’s influence is perhaps most felt in the digital zeitgeist. With nearly three million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, she has helped demystify the often complex world of dermatology, becoming one of the most trusted voices on scalp care and hair loss online.
In September 2025, she brought that expertise into the beauty space with the launch of Rhute, a results-driven haircare brand designed around long-term scalp and hair health.
We recently caught up with Dr Adel to discuss the inspiration behind Rhute, the realities of launching a science-led brand, and the one beauty principle she believes far more of us should be paying attention to.
What inspired you to create Rhute?
Rhute was born out of a gap I saw every day in clinic. Patients were investing in haircare, but very little of it was truly designed with the scalp in mind. As a dermatologist, I know that healthy hair starts at the scalp, yet most products focus only on the lengths. I wanted to create a system that brings clinical, evidence-based thinking into haircare. Something that treats the scalp as skin, supports long-term hair health, and delivers real, visible results.
What product makes the best introduction to the brand?
The Density + Repair Scalp Serum is the best introduction to Rhute. It represents our core philosophy of daily, consistent scalp care, combining active ingredients that support density, reduce shedding, and improve overall scalp health. It’s simple to integrate into a routine, but incredibly effective over time.
What has been the biggest challenge or surprise in launching Rhute?
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing clinical integrity with accessibility. We are building products that are genuinely science-led, which takes time, testing, and precision, but we also want them to feel effortless and intuitive for the consumer. The biggest surprise has been how engaged and curious our community is. People really want to understand their scalp and hair health, and that has been incredibly rewarding.
What has been the biggest highlight?
Seeing real results from our community. When people share that they are experiencing less shedding, improved scalp comfort, or stronger, healthier hair, it validates everything we set out to do. Bringing something from concept to reality, and then seeing it genuinely help people, is the most fulfilling part.
What advice would you give to those wanting to launch their own beauty business?
Start with a clear point of view and stay very focused on it. The beauty industry is crowded, so your differentiation needs to be meaningful, not just aesthetic. Build something that solves a real problem, and don’t rush the process. The foundation you create early on will define the longevity of your brand.
What’s next for Rhute?
We’re continuing to build out the full ‘Density Rhutine’ so that every step works together to support scalp health and hair density. That includes expanding into complementary formats that enhance both performance and experience. We’re also focused on growing our community and education platform, making scalp health more widely understood and accessible.
What does your daily beauty routine look like?
My routine is very consistent and focused on skin and scalp health. I start with gentle cleansing, followed by targeted skincare actives. For my scalp, I use the Rhute Density + Repair Scalp Serum daily. I keep everything quite minimal, but intentional. Consistency is always more important than complexity.
What are three beauty products you can’t live without?
- Rhute Density + Repair Scalp Serum for daily scalp health and long-term hair density.
- La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+, which I use every single day for protection.
- Axis-Y Artichoke Barrier Repair Serum for hydration and skin barrier support.
What’s the best beauty advice you’ve been given?
Treat your scalp like your skin. It’s something I say often, but it’s still one of the most overlooked principles in beauty. Once you prioritise scalp health, everything else improves.
What person or brand would you love to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with a brand or partner that shares our commitment to science and education, but presents it in a very elevated, modern way. Something at the intersection of clinical credibility and luxury experience would feel like a natural fit for Rhute.
Rhute is exclusively available at rhutehair.com, shipping to both the UK and US.
