Meet Spooge: Your New SPF BFF

Spooge is a new dermatologist-developed skincare-meets-suncare brand, launching with a mission to reframe SPF as something people actually want to wear. Forget greasy, pasty sunscreens; this brand is promising suncare solutions formulated with equal parts high-performance and high-impact.
The brand was co-created by double board-certified dermatologist Dr. Whitney Hovenic and Hillary Schieve, a kidney transplant survivor, whose increased risk of skin cancer makes her a no-nonsense advocate for suncare protection.
“We wanted to create sunscreen that feels like skincare — something people actually look forward to using,” said Dr. Hovenic. “Because sun protection shouldn’t feel clinical or boring. And most importantly, I’m tired of removing skin cancer from young patients! I want you to use protection, so you don’t have skin regrets later.”
Spooge is here to spark a new kind of sunscreen culture: one that’s fun, effective, and impossible to ignore — and this message of serious sun safety with a side of sass is central to Spooge’s identity. The brand, whose name stands for ‘Shield People Optimally Outdoors Guard Everyone’, offers what it calls ‘all-screens’, which are mineral-based, vegan formulas designed for all-day wear, through all seasons, and during all weather. Packed with active skincare ingredients that include hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, caffeine, squalane, and vitamin C, Spooge’s all-screens blur the lines between protection and self-care.
“As a transplant survivor, I’ve lived with an increased risk of skin cancer for years, but I never found a sunscreen that truly fit into my everyday life,” said Schieve. “Spooge is about changing that. We wanted to make SPF feel personal — bold, accessible, and unapologetically real.”

Spooge debuts with four mineral-based sunscreens, all offering broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection:
- The OG (Face + Body): This sheer, non-greasy SPF 30 formula contains vitamin C, vitamin E, and aloe leaf juice to hydrate, nourish, and protect. Perfect for everyday wear, it feels weightless on the skin and blends in seamlessly, with no chalky mess or sticky feel.
- Cheeky (Face + Body): A caffeine hit for your skin, this shimmer-infused SPF 30 is designed for cheek-to-cheek protection, from your face to your derrière. It doubles as a brightening, blurring makeup primer, leaving skin smooth, firm, and radiant. The formula is packed with caffeine to revitalise, magnesium to hydrate and tone, uva-ursi extract to brighten and calm, and iron oxides to protect and glow.
- Ghosted (Face): Promising to disappear as fast as last week’s hook-up, this tinted all-screen is oil-free, water-resistant, and quickly absorbs without a trace. It is formulated with vitamin E to protect and moisturise, and bisabolol and squalane to calm and hydrate.
- Dew Me (Face): A glowy, tinted all-screen powered by hyaluronic acid to hydrate, niacinamide to brighten and calm, allantoin to smooth, and iron oxides to protect and illuminate.
All Spooge products are clean, cruelty-free, and reef-safe. They are made in the USA, developed by dermatologists, and tested and approved for even the most sensitive skin. They are free from oxybenzone, octinoxate, synthetic fragrance, parabens, and phthalates.
