Tanzee, the Australian brand that gave the world the first self-tan bed sheet protector, has officially landed in the UK.

Launching exclusively at Boots — both online and in 130 Boots stores nationwide — the brand is attempting to move the conversation away from hyper-pigmented development times and toward what happens to the skin beneath the tan. It’s an approach Tanzee calls ‘Barrier First Tanning’.

The concept stems from founder Madison Rapa, who started the brand following a period of illness that left her with heightened skin sensitivity. Frustrated by a lack of transparency and fear-led messaging in beauty, Rapa began studying formulation science and skin barrier mechanics to build a range focused on evidence-based compatibility.

“Tanzee was built on one simple belief: you shouldn’t have to compromise skin health to achieve an exceptional tan,” says Rapa. “The more I learned about skin barrier function, the more obvious it became that better tanning starts with healthier skin. That insight became the foundation of our Barrier First philosophy. We formulate every product to support, protect and respect the skin while delivering professional-quality tanning results.”

The end goal for Tanzee is healthier, more hydrated skin that retains pigment more evenly and for longer. Rather than treating tanning products solely as temporary dyes, the range aims to prevent the concerns that turn people off self-tanning, namely dryness, tight-feeling skin, and patchy fade-downs.

The brand achieves this through its signature complex, the Barrier Repair Matrix, which blends ceramides, cholesterol, niacinamide, and hydration actives to mimic the skin’s natural lipid structure, helping to fortify the skin barrier while the active tan develops.

Tanzee arrives with its four core formulas, including the Barrier Repair Express Tanning Mousse (£34.95), Barrier Repair Mousse (£34.95), Barrier Repair Gradual Tan (£29.95), and Barrier Repair Face Tan (£29.95). As for the brand’s cult Self Tan Bed Sheet Protector, don’t worry — it’s part of the lineup too.

Tanzee is available now in-store and online at boots.com. Those in the US can shop the collection at tanzeebeauty.com.
