Meet Killabrush, the New Brand Rethinking Hairbrush Hygiene
We spend fortunes on scalp scrubs, overnight serums, high-tech supplements, and intensive treatments, all in the pursuit of glossy, thick, healthy lengths. Yet, every single day, we reach for the same hairbrush without a second thought — actively transferring oil, dead skin, product build-up, and other hidden nasties straight back onto our freshly washed scalps. It is the ultimate beauty blind spot. Luckily, Killabrush is launching this month, and it’s on a mission to clean up our act.
Instead of treating the hairbrush as an afterthought, the brand is giving it main-character energy, merging antimicrobial science with design-led innovation and taking a skincare-inspired approach to scalp hygiene.
Killabrush was developed by two haircare industry veterans. Penelope Cheshire, the entrepreneur who built Beauty Works into a £55 million luxury hair extensions powerhouse, has teamed up with Matt Lumb — the former Tangle Teezer CEO who famously scaled the start-up into a multi-million-pound global beauty giant.
When developing Killabrush, the founders turned their attention to what lies between the bristles. Traditional hairbrushes can harbour microbial contamination, so the brand has created a brush with built-in antimicrobial technology that works continuously to reduce microbial build-up between uses. Killabrush claims the brush is engineered to remain effective over time, is clinically proven to provide antibacterial protection between washes, and can kill up to 99.9% of viruses and fungi, helping to support a cleaner and healthier scalp environment.
“We are entering an era where haircare and wellness are deeply intertwined. Consumers are investing in serums, supplements, and advanced treatments, yet the foundational tool they use every day has remained unchanged and, in many cases, actively undermines scalp health,” explains Cheshire. “Healthy hair begins with a balanced, clean scalp environment. Killabrush is designed to support that from the very first touchpoint, bringing a skincare-level approach to the haircare ritual.”
The brand arrives with two distinct brushes: the Original Paddle Brush for daily detangling, and the Vented Styling Brush for controlled, efficient heat styling. The brushes are available in either black or white, with the brand promising more colourways throughout the year.
Killabrush will launch exclusively on killabrush.com on 27 June. There is currently no word on a US launch.
