Hourglass Founder Acquires and Relaunches Nature of Things

Carisa Janes, founder of Hourglass Cosmetics, has acquired Nature of Things, the cult-favourite beauty brand returning this month with a refreshed look.
“For Carisa Janes, Nature of Things represents both a long-held passion and a new opportunity to redefine the boundaries of natural and plant-based beauty,” the brand said in a statement.
Nature of Things was founded in 2019 by Jamie Leilani Pelayo and JP Collett as a modern wellness house rooted in natural efficacy and holistic living. Drawing on Pelayo’s studies in herbalism and Collett’s expertise in product development, the brand created formulations with ingredients drawn from the earth — plants, minerals, and elements — designed to provide both curative and preventive care across body, skin, and bath.
Janes plans to take the brand to the next level, building on its foundations of natural efficacy and community to create what she calls “a new era of elevated, natural and plant-based essentials designed for modern, everyday life.” Collett will remain a minority partner and continue as part of the Nature of Things team.
The brand relaunches with a selection of high-performance hair, body, and hand care essentials inspired by its original lineup. The Vetiver & Aloe Leaf Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner are formulated to replenish moisture, tame frizz, and restore scalp comfort, while the Sea Moss & Plum Oil Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner deliver weightless hydration, antioxidant protection, and fuller-looking hair. For bodycare, the range includes a Body Wash and Body Lotion in Awakening Santal and Restorative Floral, as well as fragrance-free options, designed to cleanse, support the skin barrier, and leave it feeling nourished and hydrated. Treatment-focused Body Bars provide purifying and soothing benefits, while a Lavender Hand Wash and Hand Cream gently cleanse and moisturise. Each formula is created for daily use, balancing efficacy with gentle, barrier-supportive care.
Nature of Things remains committed to transparency, communicating each product’s natural origin and plant-based ingredient percentages to empower customers to make informed decisions. All formulations are vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic, and free from silicones, sulphates, parabens, and phthalates. Packaging is post-consumer recycled and recyclable, with refill solutions in development.
Rigorous testing also underpins the brand’s new standard of clean. Every product undergoes three levels of natural origin review, with third-party laboratories verifying its bio-based composition. Each formula also meets the Yuka “risk-free” standard, with results shared with customers.
Nature of Things is now available at natureofthings.com, with prices from $28 to $72 and shipping currently limited to the US.
