Meet Prereq Care: The New Name in Teen Skincare

TikTok is a fever dream of influencers pushing pricey retinols, chemical exfoliants, and 12-step routines designed for, well, grown-ups. The problem? Adults aren’t the only ones paying attention. Children as young as seven are watching, learning, and — worst of all — applying these skincare products, often resulting in more irritation than glow.

To help counter this, several skincare brands aimed at teens and pre-teens have recently emerged, including Coco Granderson’s Yes Day, Salish Matter’s Sincerely Yours, and Evereden, the Sephora-stocked brand founded by Stanford and Harvard alumni mums.

But now a new brand is entering the chat: Prereq Care. The US brand focuses on skincare designed for chaotic teen schedules, not the aesthetic ‘get ready with me’ rituals that take forty-five minutes.

Co-founded by mothers Lizna Kabani and Sana Mithani, the line wasn’t just made for teens. It was created with their help. A community of 50 teens and pre-teens came together to share everything they wanted from skincare, from the scent to the leak-proof packaging.

“Prereq started with a moment a lot of parents know well — standing in the skincare aisle and realising it wasn’t built for teens,” says Kabani. “We watched our kids try to navigate their changing skin by scanning confusing shelves or turning to social media for advice.”

Involving teens in product development helped the brand avoid the ick factor that often comes from companies trying too hard to speak their language. Instead, the founders focused on what teens actually need: easy-to-use products that can survive being tossed into a gym bag.

Rather than the strong actives often pushed by social media influencers, Prereq centres its formulas on ingredients that support the skin barrier.

“The products are built around supporting the skin barrier first, with carefully selected ingredients that each serve a clear purpose,” says Dr Tiffany Libby, a board-certified dermatologist and strategic advisor for Prereq. “By keeping formulas gentle, effective, and microbiome-supporting, I can feel confident recommending them for teens and pre-teens.”

Designed to give dry, stressed skin a quick hydration boost, this lightweight mist pairs cactus extract, which helps skin retain moisture, with ectoin to help defend against environmental stressors such as pollution and blue light.

Reset Mode Deo Multi-Mist ($15.99)

This deodorising mist is formulated for use across the whole body — from underarms to feet — to help neutralise odour while supporting the skin’s natural balance. Free from aluminium and baking soda, the formula has earned the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance, meaning it’s suitable even for sensitive or eczema-prone skin.
