Cécred’s Temple Oud Is Finally Getting Its Own Hair Perfume
For all the benefits a good shampoo and conditioner can bring to the hair, for many of us — myself included — it is the scent left behind post-wash that keeps us coming back. It is why signature fragrances have become such big business in haircare, with some of our favourite brands bottling theirs into dedicated hair perfumes. Cécred is the latest to do just that.
The brand has launched Temple Oud Hair Perfume ($54), taking the warm, woody floral scent found throughout its Foundation and Styling collections and giving it a life beyond wash day.
The formula blends bergamot and night-blooming jasmine with deeper notes of oud, Australian sandalwood, and Haitian vetiver. Rich and softly smoky rather than overly sweet, it has the kind of depth that gives it that real fragrance-wardrobe legitimacy.
“Fine fragrance has been in Cécred’s DNA since day one. We wanted to elevate the wash day experience not only through product performance but through scent, and we also know how deeply it can connect us to memories and traditions,” said Tina Knowles, Vice Chairwoman of Cécred. “Temple Oud is that connection between past, present, and future, and honors the generational knowledge that sits at the core of our brand.”
In recent years, hair fragrance has become a proper beauty-category staple, particularly for anyone who wants a scent that feels more understated than traditional perfume. Hair’s porous structure naturally retains scent, allowing it to linger and diffuse throughout the day.
Temple Oud takes the concept a step further by merging haircare with the growing functional fragrance trend, with notes promising to create a sense of calm. Formulated with added antioxidants, it also refreshes hair between washes without weighing it down, making it greasy, or ruining your finished look.
“Hair fragrance is no longer an afterthought. It’s evolved into a category in its own right, as customers have turned to it as another form of self-expression and a more elevated, sensorial experience from their haircare,” said Grace Ray, CEO of Cécred. “Fine fragrance has been signature to Cécred since the brand launched in 2024. Our customers fell in love with Temple Oud in our Foundation and Styling collections, making a standalone hair perfume an authentic next step for the brand. It gives our community exactly what they asked for: a way to layer and build their favorite scent, elevated by a custom, patent-pending bottle design.”
Temple Oud Hair Perfume is available now at cecred.com, before landing in Ulta Beauty stores across the US on 19 September. As for UK shoppers, the scent is set to arrive later this month.
