Interparfums SA Acquires Goutal

Interparfums SA has acquired the global intellectual property rights to French perfume house Goutal from Amorepacific Europe, a subsidiary of Seoul-based Amorepacific. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Amorepacific Europe will continue to operate the brand—formerly known as Annick Goutal—under a licence for a set period. Starting in 2026, Interparfums SA will take over brand development in collaboration with its licensee.
Founded in 1981 by pianist and model Annick Goutal, the French luxury perfume house became known for L’Eau d’Hadrien, a citrus-infused fragrance that soon became its signature scent. In 1985, the brand joined the Taittinger Group and, following Goutal’s death in 1999, her daughter, Camille Goutal, assumed creative direction.
In 2005, Starwood Capital Group acquired the Taittinger Group, including Annick Goutal. Then, in August 2011, Amorepacific acquired full ownership of the brand from Starwood Capital to strengthen its perfume portfolio and expand its presence in Asia.
“The acquisition of the Goutal brand reflects our strategy of broadening our product offering to include high-end fragrances,” said Jean Madar, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Interparfums. “This brand, known for iconic lines such as L’Eau d’Hadrien and Petite Chérie, has substantial potential in this highly dynamic segment. Intent on safeguarding the legacy of the company her mother created and perpetuating the brand’s values, Camille Goutal will remain involved in fragrance choices.”
Interparfums SA, a 72%-owned subsidiary of New York-based Interparfums Inc., oversees the company’s European operations and manages a portfolio that includes Coach, Jimmy Choo, Lacoste, Kate Spade, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
In 2024, Interparfums SA reported a 10% increase in net profit, reaching €129.9 million on sales of €880.5 million.
