Romilly Wilde Returns With a New Focus on Skin Longevity
When British beauty label Romilly Wilde first launched in 2018 under founder Susie Willis, it leaned into its clean credentials. Fast forward to today, and the brand has returned with a total personality overhaul — a newfound focus on molecular science, biotechnology, and science-backed results.
The brand relaunches with a five-product lineup focused on supporting the skin’s proteome — the full collection of proteins present in the skin, including collagen, elastin, and keratin. These proteins keep skin resilient, firm, and functional, but can be affected by oxidative damage (think biological rust) caused by a mix of lifestyle factors and environmental stressors, including UV-A exposure and pollution. The problem? This damage can begin long before it becomes visible, gradually affecting the skin’s ability to repair, protect, and renew itself. It’s this behind-the-scenes process that Romilly Wilde’s new collection is designed to address.
“The beauty industry has spent decades optimising for what’s visible,” says founder and CEO Susie Willis. “But visible ageing is a late symptom. The real story is the proteome, the proteins that keep skin functioning, and proteomics lets us measure what’s happening to them. That changes what a brand can claim, and what it must prove. This is longevity science set to change how the skincare category is seen — substantiation then storytelling.”
The revamped range is priced from £60 ($84) and includes the Balm-to-Milk Cleanser, Peptide Longevity Serum, Tripeptide Antioxidant Day Cream, Sculpting Eye Serum, and Bioretinol Overnight Rich Cream. For the serum and day cream, Romilly Wilde worked with oxidative-damage proteomics specialist OxiProteomics on ex vivo testing using human skin samples. Rather than relying solely on consumer feedback, the testing measured protein carbonylation — a recognised biomarker of oxidative damage to proteins — to assess how the finished formulas performed.
Results showed that the Peptide Longevity Serum counteracted 91% of the rise in UV-A-induced oxidatively damaged protein, alongside 91% of the loss of collagen I. Even better for city dwellers: after being blasted with urban dust (PM10) and UV-A rays, skin samples treated with the serum dropped back down to unstressed baseline levels. Meanwhile, its companion formula, the Tripeptide Antioxidant Day Cream, demonstrated measurable protein protection across every single layer of skin tested. Consider us impressed.
