Belmond Introduces First Train Spa in England & Wales

Belmond Britannic Explorer Spa

Luxury hospitality group Belmond has announced that its new luxury sleeper train, the Britannic Explorer—set to launch in July 2025—will feature an exclusive Wellness Suite, a first-of-its-kind experience on a train in England and Wales.

Created in partnership with Wildsmith Skin, the British skincare brand known for its holistic approach to wellbeing, the new Wellness Suite will offer a curated selection of bespoke treatments designed exclusively for the journey. Inspired by the ever-changing landscapes beyond the train windows, these therapies are designed to harmonise body and mind, providing guests with a deeply restorative escape.

Wildsmith was born from the lush grounds of Heckfield Estate in Hampshire, where ancient trees—symbols of resilience, adaptability, and regeneration—inspired its creation. Established in 2018, the brand has become synonymous with advanced skin health, combining British craftsmanship with cutting-edge botanical science. Each Wildsmith product is meticulously formulated, with potent bio-actives and precisely measured ingredients to ensure long-lasting results.

The brand’s commitment to radical botany extends beyond skincare, shaping the immersive experience of the Britannic Explorer’s Wellness Suite. Guests will experience treatments infused with biodynamic principles, while Wildsmith’s dedication to sustainability is reflected in every detail—from responsibly sourced botanicals like calendula, chamomile, rose, and lavender, harvested from Heckfield Place’s biodynamic farm, to eco-conscious packaging crafted from compostable mycelium, glass, recyclable aluminium, and English ceramic. Even filtered rainwater is incorporated into formulations, ensuring a sustainable approach that respects both skin and environment.

“Wellbeing is at the heart of the Britannic Explorer experience,” explained Hendrik Huebner, General Manager at The Britannic Explorer. “Our collaboration with Wildsmith is a commitment to offering our guests more than just a journey; we are providing an opportunity for them to take time to reconnect with themselves and the world around them. By integrating Wildsmith’s nature-inspired approach to wellbeing into our offering, we are providing an opportunity for every guest to leave the Britannic Explorer feeling re-energised and deeply cared for. This partnership reinforces our belief that travel should be transformative, immersive, and ultimately, restorative.”

    • A revitalising morning session
    • A midday purifying treatment
    • A calming evening ritual to promote deep relaxation and restful sleep
  • Radical Botany Facial: A unique fusion of breathwork, myofascial release, and acupressure for radiance and balance.
  • Rebalancing Massage: Designed to align with natural circadian rhythms, easing stress and enhancing circulation.
  • Deep Tissue Treatment: Targeting muscle tension and fatigue for overall physical relief.
  • Expectant Parent Massage: A restorative experience to ease discomfort and nurture skin health during pregnancy.

“We are beyond proud to be chosen as the wellbeing partner for the Britannic Explorer,” says Katherine Pye, General Manager at Wildsmith. “As we continue to expand our presence in the wellbeing and hospitality sector, we seek partners who share our commitment to offering elevated wellbeing experiences. From our first meeting, it was clear that our shared values of innovation, excellence, sustainability, and authenticity would allow us to create transformative journeys that reflect the distinctive and unique character of the train. We are thrilled to be joining them for this journey.”

Departing from London, the Britannic Explorer offers an unforgettable journey through Cornwall, The Lake District, and Wales. Designed by Albion Nord, its 18 beautifully crafted cabins—including three Grand Suites—seamlessly blend heritage charm with modern luxury. Guests can enjoy world-class dining by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan in two dining cars, Malva and Samphire, and unwind in the botanically inspired bar in the Observation Car.

Each journey also provides exclusive access to some of the region’s most iconic destinations, celebrating Britain’s rich heritage and natural beauty.

The Britannic Explorer will debut in July 2025. Prices start at £11,000 per double cabin, including a three-night itinerary, curated excursions, fine dining, and premium beverages. Bookings are now open at belmond.com, with Wellness Suite treatments available on all journeys.
