LaFlore Launches Skin Testing Kit

LaFlore Skin Health Testing Kit

American probiotic skincare brand LaFlore has launched a personalised Skin Health Testing Kit in collaboration with Sequential, an industry leader in clinical microbiome research and testing.

With a US Census and Simmons National Consumer Survey finding that the average American spends $15,000 on skincare over a lifetime, LaFlore set out to create a product that helps consumers determine whether their skincare choices are truly effective and beneficial to skin health. Their goal is to empower consumers to make informed decisions and invest in products that deliver visible, lasting results.

The result is the Skin Health Testing Kit, an easy-to-use test strip system that evaluates the health of the skin microbiome, providing a scientific analysis of its unique needs.

“To truly understand the health of your skin, you need to understand the ‘invisible players’ within the skin microbiome,” says Dr Oliver Worsley, CEO of Sequential. “The LaFlore Skin Health Testing Kit is powered by over 25,000 microbiome samples and is the first of its kind, delivering personalized skincare recommendations to achieve lasting skin health.”

LaFlore’s simple patch test provides customers with a comprehensive, science-backed 20-page report that offers insights on the following:

  • The Current State of the Skin Microbiome:Using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), the test identifies bacterial diversity within the skin microbiome and its impact on conditions such as acne, rosacea, dermatitis, and premature ageing.
  • The True Age of the Skin:By comparing chronological age with biological skin age, the test highlights key ageing factors, allowing for targeted skincare solutions.
  • Personalised Recommendations:The report provides clinically guided skincare regimens, detailing ideal skincare ingredients, product recommendations, and even monthly facial suggestions, eliminating guesswork and ensuring optimal results.

Using the Skin Health Testing Kit is simple. Upon receiving the kit, customers register it at skinhealthtest.com and complete a skin questionnaire. Before cleansing in the morning, they place an easy-to-use patch across their forehead for 10 seconds, remove it, and post it off to Sequential using the pre-paid envelope provided. Within a few weeks, customers receive a complete report containing their skin profile and actionable next steps for achieving their skin health goals.

Alongside the testing kit, LaFlore offers a range of products formulated with prebiotics, postbiotics, and shelf-stable probiotics. According to the brand, this unique blend helps restore and maintain a healthy skin microbiome, leading to a clearer, smoother, and more radiant complexion.

The Skin Health Testing Kit is priced at $150 and available from laflore.com. Information regarding a UK launch has yet to be announced.
